AIS demonstrates its capabilities on the world stage as the only Thai company to have won the 2023 ITU and UN WSIS award

BANGKOK, March 17, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — AIS has acquired its Aunjai CYBER program to represent it Thailand, the only Thai business entity to win an international sustainability award, while ranked in the top 5 out of 1,800 programs around the world. The 2023 Champion of WSIS Award was presented at the 2023 WSIS Awards in the category of programs that use technology to build trust and security in the use of ICT, hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations (UN ). The award again confirmed a proactive approach to dealing with cyber problems in a sustainable manner. AIS is committed to harnessing the potential of its digital networks to develop tools for intervention and to further develop the digital skills of Thai people to become more aware and inhabit the digital world safely and responsibly through the AIS Aunjai CYBER program.

“AIS Aunjai CYBER program was initiated in 2019, at a time when internet and social media usage had increased rapidly but various kinds of social problems had emerged. We were then the first network service provider to stand up and was seen as the social hub for building networks through the efforts of our partners, as a united front to tackle the problem of cyber threats in a sustainable way. We wanted to inspire society to use digital technologies creatively, safely and responsibly for the benefit of all people.”

Ms. Suphatra SRIMAITREEPHITHAK, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary/Permanent Representativecongratulated AIS on winning the 2023 Champion of WSIS award for its Aunjai CYBER program which is a major boost of Thailand Call. “This program aims to “Thailand 4.0 policy aimed at enhancing digital literacy for Thai people and protecting Thai users from cyber threats. It promotes a safe online society and builds digital immunity. It also meets the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals under Goal No. 4, ensuring quality education for all, and supporting lifelong learning opportunities.”

Saikhon added: “Aunjai CYBER was designed as a program under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, SDG No. 4, “Ensure quality education for all”, responsible use of digital networks, while promoting digital literacy and Citizenship of Thai people in general. Today, the Aunjai CYBER program has expanded to many other forms, making it a hub for safer internet use.”

“The Aunjai CYBER Cyber Immunity curriculum was the first of its kind in Thailand be certified by the Ministry of Education as compliant with Thailand curriculum standards. The curriculum itself was a joint effort by the government and private sectors, and it has been enhanced and made available to students in 29,000 schools across the country affiliated with the Office of the Commission on Basic Education (OBEC).

“Previous AIS programs such as Aor Sor Mor Online, Smart Kids Brave Hearts and Work Wizard technology for the disabled have also addressed sustainability issues and won the WSIS award. Winning the 2023 WSIS award is an achievement by the AIS teams all are very proud. We are the only Thai company to have successfully won a champion level award.
