Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has previously expressed his desire to play football again.
He still faces a long road to recovery after suffering cardiac arrest during a January 2 game against the Bengals.
Bills general manager Brandon Beame told reporters earlier this week that Hamlin has another doctor’s appointment but the 24-year-old is “trending in the right direction.”

“We’ll get him through anything [medical consultations]and then we make sure all of our medical staff hear all of those opinions on every visit and make sure we’re all on the same page about what it would look like,” Beane said.
Beane also noted that Hamlin’s consultations could end next month, although more could be added.

After being administered CPR for over nine minutes on the football field, Hamlin was rushed to a Cincinnati hospital, where he stayed for more than a week.

When Hamlin woke up, the first thing he did was ask the doctors who won the gamewhich was actually postponed and later cancelled.
Last month, Hamlin publicly announced his desire to return to the NFL.
“Eventually. That’s always the goal, like I said, as a competitor I’m trying to do things to further advance my situation,” he said. “But I leave that in God’s hands. I’m just grateful he gave me a second chance.”

He added that the doctor’s main concern remains that he leads as normal a life as possible.
“It’s a difficult situation,” Hamlin said. “You can’t really say it because it’s – it’s up to me, I guess, or, you know, it’s just – it’s a long road. They’re just worried that they’re trying to get me back to normal as much as they can.”

If Hamlin returns to the griddle in 2023, he would likely serve as deep safety for the Bills behind starters Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde.
