Former President Donald Trump said in a video released Thursday that the biggest threat to the US is not Russia but Americans who hate their own country, including “godless” Marxists who promote progressive ideology.
“Our foreign policy establishment continues to try to drag the world into conflict with a nuclear-armed Russia based on the lie that Russia is our greatest threat,” he said. Trump said so in a video first posted on his Truth Social account. “But the greatest threat to Western civilization today is not Russia. It’s probably more than anything ourselves and some of the horrible USA-hating people who represent us.”
Trump, who announced his 2024 presidential campaign in November, went on to hint that the US is fostering a culture and implementing policies that are leading to the country’s demise.
PENCE LIGHTS THE RIVER WITH TRUMP AND DESANTIS IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINE AS THE FORMER VP VISITS A KEY PRIMARY STATE
“It is the abolition of our national borders. It is the failure to police our own cities. It is destroying the rule of law from within. It’s the collapse of the nuclear family and birth rates like no one can believe,” Trump said.
“It is the Marxists who want to make us a godless nation, worshiping race, gender and environment on the altar,” he continued. “And it is the globalist class that has made us totally dependent on China and other foreign countries that basically hate us.”
Trump’s comments came in a three-and-a-half-minute video in which he explained why he believed the conflict between Russia and Ukraine should end “immediately” to prevent “World War III” and “nuclear Armageddon.”
The former president did not specify what a cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, which Russia invaded in February 2022, would look like, but said new leadership is needed in Washington to bring about peace, avert a global catastrophe, and the current one to dismantle existing power structures. .

“There must also be an unreserved commitment to dismantling the entire globalist neocon establishment that constantly drags us into endless wars and pretends to be fighting for freedom and democracy abroad while transporting us to a third world country and a… Third world dictatorship transforming here at home,” said Trump, adding that NATO’s role needs to be reexamined and the State Department, “defense bureaucracy” and intelligence agencies need to be overhauled.
“These globalists want to squander America’s strength, blood and treasure, hunting monsters and phantoms overseas and distracting us from the chaos they are wreaking here at home,” he said. “These forces are doing more damage to America than Russia and China ever dreamed of.”
Trump’s video comes days after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has not announced a presidential bid but is widely regarded as Trump’s best rival in 2024, made headlines for arguing that continued support for Ukraine against the Russian invasion would not do “vital” US national interest.
Olivia Troye, a former aide to former Vice President Mike Pence, criticized Trump’s video as “chilling pro-Putin message‘ and urged Republicans to censure it.
NIKKI HALEY DINGS DESANTIS AND TRUMP ON US AID TO UKRAINE AS THE 2024 GOP PRESIDENT SWEEPSTAKES LAUNCH
The war in Ukraine has become a contentious issue, dividing the burgeoning field of Republican presidential candidates in 2024. Pence, a potential presidential candidate, said Thursday that it was “healthy” to have a lot of debate within the GOP, but stressed the conflict was “not a territorial dispute, it’s a Russian invasion.”
Nikki Haley, former US ambassador to the United Nations — who, like Pence, also served under Trump — has criticized both DeSantis and her former boss for their views on the Russia-Ukraine war.
“The Russian government is a powerful dictatorship that makes no secret of its hatred of America,” Haley said in a recent statement. “Unlike other anti-American regimes, it attempts to brutally and violently expand into a neighboring pro-American country. It also regularly threatens other American allies.”

“America is far better off with a Ukrainian victory than a Russian victory, including avoiding a major war,” continued Haley, who officially entered the 2024 GOP presidential primary last month. “If Russia wins, there is no reason to think it will stop with Ukraine. And if Russia wins, its closest allies, China and Iran, will become more aggressive.”
Trump, who urged Europe to pay the same amount as the US to help Ukraine, ended his video Thursday by saying he was the only one capable of evicting the “sick and corrupt establishment.”
