Former President Donald Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury Thursday after years of investigations by Manhattan prosecutors and Liberal prosecutor Alvin Bragg.
It was announced Thursday night that a Manhattan grand jury investigating a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign voted to indict Trump. Bragg is also investigating the $150,000 payment to the former Playboy model Karen McDougal, Fox News Digital previously reported.
Amid the focus on the charges against Trump, Fox News Digital investigated some cases in which Bragg was accused of being lenient with crime.
Manhattan’s top attorney came into office as a reform-minded prosecutor and has been repeatedly accused of letting abusive individuals and killers off the hook, including when the family of a slain New Yorker said he betrayed them by telling a nurse who it was , not prosecuted charged with fatally stabbing her estranged husband.

“We believe that you prematurely replaced your version of events with the investigative functions of the jury and failed to live up to your promises to the court or to my family to hold any degree of accountability,” said murdered James’ brother Murray, Steven Murray wrote to Bragg in December.

James Murray was fatally stabbed in 2020 by estranged wife Tracy McCarter, who said she killed her husband in self-defense and said he was an abusive alcoholic. McCarter was supported by domestic violence advocates, according to previous New York Post reporting, and during his tenure as prosecutor, Bragg received a donation from the Color of Change advocacy group, which campaigned for her release.
He tweeted in support of McCarter’s release ahead of his election and eventually secured his offer to drop the murder charges against the woman, which the murdered man’s family said was “100%” motivated by Color of Change’s donation.

Similar incidents have occurred since his inauguration, including ridicule for making a love contract with a career criminal who hit a woman at random; his slap in the face for a man who viciously assaulted a 55-year-old nurse; and the bodega owner who killed an aggressive ex-con who assaulted him for murder was imprisoned and ultimately released.

In 2022, during Bragg’s first year as Manhattan’s chief attorney, he downgraded more than half of the felony cases to misdemeanor cases. He campaigned for criminal justice reform and, after taking office, sent a “Day One” memo to staff to downgrade certain crimes, such as armed robberies of commercial establishments. The move came at a time when crime in New York City was rising 27.6%, Fox News Digital previously reported.
Bragg declined to prosecute 35% more crime cases than 2019.

Trump has followed Bragg for his financial backing from billionaire liberal donor George Soros, who donated $1 million to the Color of Change political action committee, which funneled funds to Bragg, the New York Post previously reported.
“Bragg is a (Soros) racist in reverse taking his orders from DC, I beat them TWICE, does it much better the second time, and despite their DISINFORMATION campaign they don’t want to go against “TRUMP” or mine BIG RECORD!” Trump wrote on Truth Social this month.

Tom Anderson, the director of the Government Integrity Project at the National Legal and Policy Center in Virginia, previously told the outlet that Soros’ donations were a “shock and awe” political maneuver.

“George Soros has been quietly orchestrating the dark money political equivalent of ‘shock and awe,’ with local attorneys racing across the country breaking records, reversing races and essentially making a mockery of our entire campaign finance system,” Anderson told the New York Post Office.

Elected in 2021, Bragg became the first black American to head the powerful office. But since taking office, he’s also faced criticism from other New York City leaders, including NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell, who said she was “very concerned” by his “Day One” memo.

“I share my concerns with the Manhattan District Attorney and hope for frank and productive discussions to try to find more common ground,” Sewell wrote in a message to officials last year. “As Police Commissioner, your safety is my number one concern. That’s one of the reasons I’m seeking talks with the prosecutor to find a better balance between officer safety, public safety and reform.”
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung has previously called the Trump investigation a “witch hunt” and accused Bragg of being in the bag President Joe Biden and “Radical Democrats”.

“President Donald J. Trump is completely innocent, he has done nothing wrong, and even the biggest, most radical left-wing Democrats make that clear,” Cheung wrote in a statement.
