A major Florida hotel has pleaded guilty after the DeSantis administration announced it would revoke its liquor license over a sexually explicit Christmas drag show involving children.
The Hyatt Regency Miami hosted “A Drag Queen Christmas” in December, during which performers rubbed prosthetic breasts and genitals on contestants’ faces and mouths, exposed rear ends, simulated masturbation, “graphic depictions of childbirth and/or abortion,” according to a complaint with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed.
But the Hyatt’s general manager said the city of Miami owns the venue where the drag show took place and that a third party manages it.

“The event in question took place at the city’s James L. Knight Center, a third-party operated venue adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Miami,” Amir Blattner said in a statement to Fox News. “All programming and ticketing is managed by the third party.”
“Hyatt’s sole role at the James L. Knight Center is to provide food and beverage concessions,” he continued.
Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office announced Tuesday that it was beginning the process to revoke the hotel’s liquor license. Management had also sent a warning to the Hyatt ahead of the event.

“Sexually explicit content must not be shown to children and is against Florida law,” Florida Gov. Bryan Griffin’s press secretary wrote. “Governor DeSantis stands for the innocence of children in the classroom and throughout Florida.”
According to the DeSantis office, the hotel has 21 days to request a hearing on the matter. Blattner clarified that the Hyatt would retain its liquor license in the meantime.

“We are reviewing this complaint and will be raising the situation directly with the state’s Department of Business and Professional Affairs as part of the administrative review process,” Blattner wrote.

Originally, promotional materials for the event featured the words “all ages welcome,” but were updated to “recommended for viewers 18+” following the DeSantis administration’s warning.
“As a result, minors participated and were knowingly admitted,” the Regulatory Division’s complaint said. “During the show and in the presence of persons under the age of 16, performers appeared on stage wearing sexually suggestive clothing and female genitalia.”

Sexual remixes of popular Christmas carols like “Screwdolph the Red-Nippled Reindeer” were also performed with explicit lyrics, including “You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen Vomit and Stupid and Dildo and D***s-in…” and “Dann a wet Christmas Eve Santa came along to say, ‘Screwdolph with your nipples so bright you won’t be driving my sleigh tonight,’ according to the department.
Neither the James L. Knight Center nor the City of Miami have responded to requests for comment. ASM Global, the group managing the venue, has also not responded to a request for comment, according to its website.
