President Biden denied that his family received more than $1 million in payments from related accounts Hunter Bidens Business partner Rob Walker and their Chinese business ventures in 2017, although financial records indicate otherwise.
On Thursday, GOP lawmakers from the House Oversight Committee announced they had received bank documents showing Hunter Biden, the president’s brother Jim, and Hallie Biden, his son Beau’s widow, received payments from Hunter’s business partner Rob Walker and its joint venture with the Chinese energy company CEFC. A spokesman for Hunter Biden’s legal team confirmed the payments Thursday, but stressed that the recipients’ accounts “belonged to Hunter, his uncle, and Hallie — no one else.”
But Biden denied the payments were made when confronted with a reporter on the White House lawn on Friday.
“That’s not true,” the president said when asked about the GOP lawmakers’ findings.

Financial documents subpoenaed by Bank of America’s Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., say otherwise.
Records showed that State Energy HK Limited, a separate Chinese company, remitted $3 million to Robinson Walker, LLC on March 1, 2017, less than two months after then-Vice President Joe Biden left office.
“The next day, Robinson Walker, LLC transferred $1,065,000 to European Energy and Infrastructure Group in Abu Dhabi, a company affiliated with James Gilliar,” the committee said in a memo.
Gilliar was a business partner of Hunter Biden who was involved in his overseas operations.

“After Robinson Walker, LLC’s account received $3 million from State Energy HK Limited, members of the Biden family and their companies received incremental payments over a period of approximately three months,” the memo said. “The recipients of the money included Hallie Biden, companies associated with Hunter Biden and James Biden, and an unknown bank account identified as ‘Biden.'”
Republican lawmakers say they are investigating whether the Biden family used Joe Biden’s previous position as vice president to strike lucrative deals with foreigners.
The White House did not dispute the findings in a statement but blasted the committee’s investigation into the Biden family.
“Following a sickening attack which lamented that the President’s late son Beau was never prosecuted during his lifetime, Congressman Comer has now decided to pursue Beau’s widow,” White House spokesman Ian Sams said. and was referring to comments Comer made earlier this month about the late Beau Biden’s campaign contributions.

“Rather than bizarrely attacking the president’s family, perhaps Republicans should focus on working with the president to get results for American families on important priorities like cutting costs and strengthening health care,” Sams said.
Hunter Biden’s legal team accused Republicans of promoting an “unfounded right-wing conspiracy theory” despite confirming the payments had taken place.

“Hunter Biden, a private individual with every right to pursue his own business endeavors, has joined several business partners to seek a joint venture with a legitimate, privately held energy company in China,” the spokesman said. “As part of this joint venture, Hunter received his share of bona fide entry fees, which he shared with his uncle James Biden and Hallie Biden, who he was dating at the time, and shared the expenses.”
