Sometimes a film’s marketing material spoils a detail meant as a surprise.
This is what happened with “Shazam! Wrath of the gods.” To the disappointment of director David F. Sandberg, Gal Gadot’s performance as Wonder Woman was revealed ahead of the film’s release on Friday in a TV advertising.
The sequel to 2019’s “Shazam!” sees Billy Batson (Asher Angel and Zachary Levi) and his overpowered siblings take on a family of vengeful gods to save Philadelphia and the world.

DC movie fans will recall that Gadot made her debut as an Amazonian warrior from Themyscira in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before headlining Wonder Woman (2017) and Wonder Woman 1984 (2020). performed. She was also part of DC’s 2017 superhero team Justice League.
But Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman has been in doubt since James Gunn and Peter Safran were named co-chairmans and chief executive officers of DC Studios in October. In the wake of Warner Bros. Since then, Gunn and Safran have shared some of their plans for a soft DC reboot that aims to merge the franchise’s major film, television, and animation projects into a unified continuity known as the DC Universe. Films and series launched under the previous DC regime that did not fit the new leaders’ vision were scrapped, and a new set of projects were announced in January.
Upcoming films include Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy,” which introduces a younger Clark Kent who will be portrayed by someone other than Henry Cavill, who has played the character in the live-action films of Hollywood since 2013’s “Man of Steel.” DC played. ”
