Tyra Banks says she is leaving DWTS hosting gig after 3 seasons to focus on her business

Tyra Banks says goodbye to Dancing with the stars.

The supermodel, 49, is Retired from the Disney+ dance competition series After three seasons as a presenter, she told TMZ on Thursday.

“I think it’s really time to focus on my business and my entrepreneurship and also producing more television — but behind the scenes,” Banks said in an interview with the outlet. “I think it’s time to move from the dance floor to the stock market. … from the ballroom to the boardroom!”

When asked if she actually resigned DWTSBanks – who also served as executive producer on the series – continued, “Don’t you think it’s about time? Yes, I think it’s about time,” adding, “I’m an entrepreneur at heart. … I think my heart, my soul, is in my business, it’s also in the production of new television. …But I really, really want to focus on my business, and you can’t do that to host a show.

Representative for both banks and DWTS did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Bergeron, 67, had co-hosted the reality dance competition since it premiered in 2005 along with various co-hosts. Andrews, 44, joined Bergeron in 2014 as a co-host.

Banks, meanwhile, previously co-hosted America’s Got Talent in the show’s 12th season, the host of The Tyra Banks Show and was the creator of America’s Next Top Model.

She has launched a number of business ventures over the years including SMiZE creamtheir own brand of ice cream.

Speaking to PEOPLE not long after announcing their hosting gig, Banks said: “Dancing with the stars Is one of the biggest shows on TVwith a huge audience, and I really respect that.”

“I can’t come in with a battering ram and try to change everything. That would be a bad business decision and stupid leadership. So I don’t do that,” she continued.

“I’ve listened to the research, I’ve listened to the fans, I’ve destroyed half my ideas and then doubled some of them,” Banks added. “We want to implement those ideas, but still respect the show — and add a little pixie dust!”

ABC announced this in July 2022 Alfonso Ribeiro would be co-hosting season 31 from DWTS next to banks. It was also the series’ first season to be streamed on Disney+ instead of airing live on ABC, where it first debuted.

Season 32 of Dancing with the stars is scheduled to air on Disney+ in the fall.
