Shannen Doherty Defends Charmed Reboot After Fan Boo’s New Series at 90s Con: ‘Not Cool’

Shannen Doherty Is stand up for The CW’s reboot of their earlier series, Charmed.

Doherty, 51, joined her former Charmed fellow players Rose McGowan, Holly Marie combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory And Draws Fuller on Saturday in a panel moderated by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman at the 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut. During the fan Q&A portion, she responded to one attendee who booed while mentioning the newer series in her question to the cast.

“Not cool,” Doherty began. “Don’t boo people who provide literally hundreds and hundreds of people with their jobs.”

Doherty then explained that “the new Charm is also for a younger generation”.

“I met a lot of people who connected just like you all, right here Charmed You have had many life experiences [and] brought you and your family closer together to get closer together, there’s a whole different generation that felt the same about the new Charmed“, she said. “It might be for all of us to say, ‘Well, it would be nice to be asked to be on the show,’ but you know, if they did their own thing and did it, I applaud them for providing it many jobs. And they’re incredibly nice people, FYI.”

Doherty added that the Charmed It is part of the will to “always stand for yourself”.

The second yearbook 90s con also saw them Beverly Hills, 90210 cast come together. Jenny Garth, Tori spelling, Jan Ziering, Jason Priestly And Rebecca Gayheart took the stage to talk about 1990s teen drama, but Doherty – who was there too 90210 — appeared only on the Charmed Blackboard.

Charmed aired from 1998 to 2006, although Doherty left after the first three seasons and was replaced by McGowan. Alyssa Milan also starred in the series.

The new iteration of the same name premiered on The CW in 2018. And that despite mixed reactions from fans – at first some of its stars – After its launch, it has four seasons. The last of these aired in 2022.
