Peacock’s Bel-Air renewed for Season 3

peacock Bel Air corresponds almost to that series of seasons with its showrunners.

The NBCUniversal-supported streamer has issued a season 3 renewal for its reimagining of Will Smith’s lover The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral short film, the dramatic version of the former comedy series was originally picked up by Peacock with a two-season order following a competitive bidding process with other streamers vying for the series.

The third-season renewal marks the first vote of confidence beyond that original order, and follows a wave of showrunner changes as the drama struggled to find its creative voice. Carla Banks Waddles was recruited as showrunner early in the second season. The good girls And The soul man Alum was promoted from co-executive producer to showrunner, replacing TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson (Army women, lie to me) at the top of Bel Air. Brady and Newson left after creative differences with Peacock and producers Universal Television. The series was starring Chris Collins (The Wire, Sons of Anarchy) is set to act as showrunner. Brady and Newson took over the first season after Collins – and his successor Diane Houston (Rich) – separate ways with Bel Air Producers like Smith, Quincy Jones and Benny Medina.

Peacock, who doesn’t release traditional viewership data, says Bel Air launched as the most-watched original premiere and ranks as the most-watched second series since the service’s debut.

Starring Jabari Banks in Smith’s iconic role, the series is from Universal Television. In addition to Waddles, executive producers include Cooper, Anthony Sparks, Spellman, Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Quincy Jones, Andy & Susan Borowitz, Brady and Newson. Bel Air is part of a Peacock list of originals that also includes Poker Face, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, Wolf Like Me, Killing It, Dr. Death And We are Ladyparts, among other.
