Unfortunately, the normally media-savvy Ben Affleck dropped a phony by revealing details about a certain cameo appearance by a certain key DC character in Andy Muschietti’s upcoming film The Lightning.

More from The Hollywood Reporter

Affleck, who is currently on a press tour to promote his film Air: Courting a Legendappeared in the latest episode of Sean Hayes, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman SmartLess podcast. Affleck, while sharing his thoughts on playing Batman again, ventured into spoiler territory and told the hosts about the nature of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman performance, the The Hollywood Reporter previously reported would take place along with performances by other members of Zack Snyder justice league Ensemble.

Although Affleck apparently realized mid-sentence that he might have disclosed something he shouldn’t have disclosed, he went on to provide details of the scene he and Gadot filmed.

“I don’t want to spoil it, but it was a scene where I get caught – rescued – by Wonder Woman during a fire with a bunch of bad guys,” Affleck shared, acknowledging that the “spoiler DC assassins” may have been listening . “She saves me… with the lasso of truth. And so it is that Batman reveals some of his true feelings about his life and work.”

The actor added that his performance in The Lightning was the first time he really understood the character, and it ultimately made him want to come back to play the hero again. “This is my best shit I’ve ever done [Batman]’ he said excitedly. “I finally figured out how to play the guy. I thought, ‘Wait, I’ll stop. I know I’ve resigned. But now I have it!’”

In his Hollywood reporter cover storyAffleck shared similar sentiments, noting that with the justice leagueHe liked “a lot of things we did, especially the first one [Batman v Superman]’, but that ‘those stories became a bit repetitive and less interesting for me.’ However, he did ‘finally figure out how to play this character’.

“I nailed it The Lightning. For the five minutes I’m there, it’s really great. A lot of it is just sound. You need to find out what’s your version of the person? Who’s the guy that goes with what you can do?” he continued. “I was trying to fit into a Batman.”

Keep talking about his time working at the justice league, Affleck said: “You could do a seminar on all the reasons why it isn’t. From the production to bad decisions to terrible personal tragedies and ending up with the most monstrous taste in my mouth.”

“I wanted to direct a BatmanAnd [Justice League] let me go, ‘I’m out. I never want to do anything like that again. I’m not eligible,'” he added. “This was the worst experience I have ever had in a store that is full of crappy experiences. It broke my heart.”

Still, the actor hailed Snyder’s “genius” for coming back to AT&T and convincing them to let him deliver his own four-hour snippet of the film, noting that it was the “silver lining” of the entire experience. “I went and did it. And now [Zack Snyder’s Justice League] is my highest rated movie on IMDb,” Affleck said.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran resetting the DC movie universe, The Lightning was to be Affleck’s last appearance as Bruce Wayne/Batman and, if his admission is true, possibly the last big-screen appearance of Gadot’s Wonder Woman, although rumor has it the cameos are up in the air. Mussetti’s long-awaited film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash and Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Michael Keaton as another version of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The Lightning hits theaters on June 16th.
